No, I have the curve and I had at&t shush my internet off and its fully functional. You can use offline apps and get themes from your computer without the internet.

the way mixer works is it will send you an email put aside the ringtone to a memory card and that is that good luck dont know much about the 8700

That is odd. Try employment support and having the service books resent. If you are on an enterprise (corporate) plan or were there could be an issue with the network, or the strategy.
